Morat is a very young band with magic and talent. Its members are Juan Pablo Isaza – guitar and vocals, Juan Pablo Villamil – guitar, bass and vocals, Martín Vargas – percussion and vocals, and Simón Vargas – bass and vocals. They are four Colombians, 23 years of average age.
Just two years ago, they made themselves known all over the world after Paulina Rubio listened to their song and wanted to perform it. Yes, that’s “Mi Nuevo Vicio”, which broke all records in plays listened.
In June 17th, 2016 they released their first studio album, “Sobre El Amor Y Sus Efectos Secundarios”, which included their huge hit “Como Te Atreves,” which has already reached the quintuple digital platinum in Spain, ranking at #1 on radio lists in Spain, and its video reaching 105 million views.
In addition, they have continued releasing hits such as “Cuanto Me Duele” (Gold Record in Spain with more than 35 million views), “Amor Con Hielo” (one of the most listened songs in streaming in Spain) and “Yo Contigo, Tú Conmigo “(which was part of the soundtrack of the movie “Despicable Me” and it is already a Platinum Record in Spain and Italy).
Their recent single, “Besos En Guerra” with Juanes, has earned a Gold Record in Spain.
To date, Morat has been awarded with the “Best Revelation Band Award” at 40Principales Awards, “Best Revelation Band” at Cadena Dial Awards, and they have been nominated for a Latin Grammy as “Best New Artist”. Also recently, they are nominated for the “MTV MIA Awards” in two of its categories.
Since they began, they have not stopped touring Spain and Latin America, filling five National Auditoriums in Mexico and hanging the “Sold Out” poster in most of their concerts, becoming the most selling band in Mexico.
Morat is, as of today, the biggest pop band in Spain and Latin America.
